Rising Demand for Dual Usage Skin Care

Industry experts noted dual-usage beauty products make it easy for women to get both beauty and protection benefits in one product. “SPF has become an added benefit for many beauty products—even hair products to protect colored hair from the sun. The goal is to combine the benefits of sun care products into one, making it easier to use on a daily basis,” Javier Perez, product manager, Mederma, Merz Pharmaceuticals told Happi magazine.

New advances, formulations and an abundance of such products are providing consumers with the tools to protect them from ultraviolet (UV) rays. An NPD report noted 60 percent of women said sun protection and SPF are very important, as they recognize preventing sun damage prevents aging. “In the on-the-go world we live in today, consumers continue to seek out multi-tasking, multi-benefit products,” said Kinerase senior product manager Janice Lee in the Happi article. “SPF products that simultaneously protect and care for the skin will continue to reign in the skin care category as consumers become increasingly more aware of the sun’s damaging effects on skin.”

Skin Care for Diabetics

Skin problems are common in people with diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association offers these suggestions to help diabetics keep their skin in good health:

1. Always keep your skin clean and dry, and apply talcum powder in areas in contact with other skin.
2. Don't take baths or showers with very hot water, and don't take bubble baths if you have dry skin.
3. Use mild shampoos, and moisturizing soaps and body lotions. Don't apply lotions between the toes, as this may encourage fungus to grow.
4. Treat any cuts or abrasions promptly to prevent infection. Talk to your doctor about the best antiseptic solutions to use.
5. During the cold winter months, keep your home more humid, keep your skin well-moisturized, and try to bathe less frequently.
6. Check your feet regularly for problems.

Hollywood Hair Care Range Hits Nearby Stores

A touch of Hollywood style and excitement came to peterborough when hair stylist to the stars Tara Smith visited Potter and Moore to see production of her products.
Nineteen Tara Smith natural and organic hair products are being launched in Tesco stores nationwide this week, and the city firm has "high hopes that the range will do really well."

"I have made sure my products are as natural as they can be without having to keep them in the fridge because I believe that what we put on our body is as important as what we put in it."

Tara is originally from Leicester and mentioned on her visit to the city that she had a grandfather who used to work on Peterborough market.

She is the first celebrity hair stylist to introduce a natural haircare and styling range to the market.

All Tara Smith's products are made with natural and organic earth-friendly ingredients and contain certified organic fragrances.

They are made in Peterborough, are vegan and BUAV-approved, easily recyclable and tagged, on the 250ml containers, with flower seeds. They are labelled "tested on film stars not on animals".

And the products will no doubt attract many people, including actress Demi Moore, who said: "Trust me, I will be first in line to try out her new hair care products."
